Many
fine, slightly-used schedules from years past remain availalalable
for your perusal, e.g.:
Prior
to 2002, it is recommended that you imagine your own Chautauqua
schedules. Be
your own show director! Consider
exotic locales! Rename
the performers! Just
think how wonderful it would have been to have George Clooney, Sofia
Coppola and John Phillip Sousa tap dancing on the Polynesia/Indiana
Tour!
Of
course, if you want to see what's happening in the present and near
future, check out:

New
Old Time Chautauqua Sailed the Salish Sea
|
A
flotilla of nine boats chock-full
of entertainers, educators, boat captains,
crew and support staff sailed from maritime
community to maritime community on this
summer's Aqua Chautauqua Tour. Chautauqua
partnered with local nonprofit organizations,
and helped raise $10,000 for their worthwhile
projects. Aqua Chautauqua focused on
youth education, sustainability, and
land and ocean stewardship. Our Parades,
Workshops and Shows brought together
over 5,000 people to celebrate Community!
Vaudeville
Extravaganza
The Flying Karamazov Brothers
hosted a family-friendly, all the bells
and whistles, madcap evening of music,
juggling, magic, acrobatics, clowning,
aerial acts and comedy.
In
addition to the Flying Karamazov
Brothers, even the most casual observer
may have noted that Faith Petric
(the legendary folksinger) and Hacki
(winner of the European "Golden Nose"
award for clowning) and Duo Madrona
(lyrical aerialists) and Kazüm!
(Portland's premiere acrobalance troupe)
and The Fighting Instruments
of Karma Marching Chamber Band/Orchestra
(captains of choice cuts) were just
a few of the Special Guests amongst
our multi-generational troupe.
Before
the Vaudeville Extravaganza,
were these FREE events:
The
colorful Everybody's Welcome Parade,
complete with marching band, jugglers,
stilt walkers, dancers and little fairies,
which promenaded down the main streets
of towns, announcing our arrival.
The
Free Educational Circus, at which
one could learn to juggle, hula-hoop,
perform acrobatics, play samba rhythms,
clown, or mystify friends with a magic
trick. Other activities included mask-making,
trash fashions made from recycled materials,
quilting (making "blankees" for local,
at-risk infants), and a song swap (at
which one was invited to bring one's
musical instruments and songs.) Nautical
workshops included knot-tying, sea chanteys,
nautical storytelling, a Salish Sea
historical lecture and how to use GPS.

from Port Townsend, Washington, to aid evacuees and others.

Volunteers
rolled up their sleeves and did whatever needed to be done
- helped folks get to safe havens, delivered supplies, worked
in relief kitchens, mucked-out homes, etc.
