Quotes about Aqua Chautauqua

Aqua Chautauqua II

New Old Time Chautauqua took to the sea again!

The musical vaudeville circus with a strong tendency towards education presented their 28th-annual summer tour...

Vaudeville Extravaganza

The Evening Show was a family-friendly, all the bells and whistles, madcap evening of music, juggling, magic, acrobatics, clowning, aerial acts and comedy.

World class clown, Iman Lizarazu, the Mud Bay Jugglers, Runaway Circus, Vanessa Vortex and The Fighting Instruments of Karma Marching Chamber Band/Orchestra (captains of choice cuts) were just a few of the Special Guests amongst our multi-generational troupe.

Before the Vaudeville Extravaganza, were these FREE events:

The colorful Everybody's Welcome Parade - complete with marching band, jugglers, stilt walkers, dancers and little fairies - promenaded down the main streets of towns, to announce our arrival.

The Free Educational Circus, at which one could learn to Juggle, Hula-Hoop, perform Acrobatics, play Samba Rhythms, and literally Clown around. Other activities included Mask-Making, Trash Fashions made from recycled materials, Quilting (making "blankees" for local, at-risk infants), and a Song Swap (at which one was invited to bring one's musical instruments and songs.) There was also a Solar Water Heater workshop and a discussion about Peak Oil and "The Other" (asking the question, "How do we, as individuals and nations, treat people who are different from us?")

New Old Time Chautauqua was mighty happy indeed to be part of the 2nd annual

Great Peninsula Future Festival

There are so many things in our world that need attention - sustainability, thinking local, healthy food, climate change - and we think the important business of reeducating ourselves needs to be fun, too. Mixed in with all the interesting and innovative ideas at the GPFF, we again offered our whimsy and humor through music, juggling, magic, aerial performance, acrobatics and comedy.

The New Old Time Chautauqua partnered with local non profit organizations who are doing great things, such as community gardens that donate their bounty to the local food bank, animal rescue, environmental cleanup, supporting at-risk youth and families, community radio, educational programs for kids, and food co-ops.

We loved revisiting the Great Peninsula Future Festival.

About Plant Amnesty

Most people take it for granted that trees and plants are being maintained properly, or that it's not really a major issue. Yet think of the green infrastructure of the city of Seattle. Improper pruning and tree-topping add up to an expensive waste of resources. Many trees and plants pay for these mistakes with their lives.

PlantAmnesty was founded in 1987 to "stop the senseless torture and mutilation of trees and shrubs." The nonprofit group uses a unique blend of humor and controversy to raise public awareness of "Crimes Against Nature" committed in our own backyards.

After alerting the public to this problem, volunteers provide readily accessible and accurate information, materials and services. PlantAmnesty's solutions to plant abuse and neglect include garden renovation workshops, classes, videos, a referral service and volunteer pruning and tree projects throughout the community.
