2006  Performance Schedule

Summer of 2006:

Tuesday
July 11, 2006

7:30 PM

Eugene, OR

Vaudeville Variety Show

WOW Hall
291 West 8th. Ave.

A rousing, rollicking show for the whole family - featuring some of the Chautauqua performers you know and love, fresh from the Oregon Country Fair, plus local Eugene talents, all accompanied by the Fighting Instruments of Karma Marching Chamber Band/Orchestra.

We had an inkling we would be inclined to include such incomparable performers as:

  • Faith Petric - musician of many moons
  • Dusty Rodz and Her Handsome Cowboy - caroling of comedic cowpersons
  • Fyodor Karamazov - object-operations of omnipotence
  • Tom Noddy - bubbles of beauty
  • Smerdyakov Karamazov - M.C. of McGuffins
  • Culture Jam - spoken words of words which are spoken
  • Darcy DuRuz - operaticness of opulence
  • Stephen Bent - juggler of jauntiness
  • Adrienne - acrobatics of acumen
  • Haute Trash Fashion - garments of garbage
  • Joey Pipia - magic of mirth
  • Juggling Jollies - juggling of jolliness
  • Jim Page - Songs of Singularity
  • Mark and Kate Ettinger - musical stylings of muscular styrofoam (not really, but my alliterative juice is running low...)

...and we were right. The traditional Swell Time™ was had by all.

Tickets were:

$10  in advance
$12  for adults, at the door
$6  for kids
Free  for Little Lapsitters

Tickets were available at:

In addition to the juggling, magic, comedy, music, acrobatics, comedy, spoken word, more music, and more juggling, and even more comedy, we had a photo exhibit from Chautauqua's recently-completed Jambalaya Vaudeville Tour to the gulf states affected by Hurricane Katrina.

In April, a troupe of 53 Chautauquans - including many of the entertainers appearing in this Eugene show - performed for hurricane survivors and relief workers in New Orleans and along the Mississippi Coast. They also helped out at community kitchens and provided demolition/reconstruction assistance.

This evening provided a chance to discuss that amazing experience with folks who were there, amongst the ongoing devastation and rebuilding.

Read more about this adventure below and via our Jambalaya Tour Page.

A wild & zany Vaudeville Show and a down-home Southern meal - what a combo!

Our show included entertainers commonly referred to, by ourselves (and the local constabulary,) as The Usual Suspects. There were some surprise guests as well. In point of fact, they were so surprising that not even we know who they were.

Tickets were available, online, at BrownPaperTickets.com

Note: Although we appeared only on April 2nd, our friends at the Moisture Festival presented many wonderful shows from March 21st thru April 9th.

April 18 - 23, 2006

Chautauqua's Jambalaya Tour

The cities of Pass Christian, Waveland and Bay St. Louis, MS, were in the heart of the destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina - all three towns were severely damaged by the winds and ensuing flood waters.

St. Bernard Parish and New Orleans, LA, were flooded with the failure of the levees. Some portions were underwater for weeks. It is now many months later and large areas remain as devastated and chaotic as they were in September of 2005.

When not performing, Chautauquans pitched-in and helped wherever needed - gutting houses, working in kitchens, staffing phones, entering data...

Performers included:

  • The Flying Karamazov Brothers
  • Faith Petric
  • Magical Mystical Michael
  • Dusty Roadz and her Handsome Cowboy
